A few months ago, when I was still working at the University of North Texas as a music business educator and the Founder and Director of the Music Business and Entrepreneurship program, I was interviewed by Yuri Cataldo from the “Advance Your Art” podcast.
In this episode I’m sharing so much about my journey to becoming a business strategist for musicians.
Although my story has many chapters, I’ve always been inspired by mastering the piano and helping other musicians create financial prosperity, even when they aren’t “chosen” by elite institutions and orchestras.
After all, being a creative person I’m very multi-faceted and I honor all these different parts of myself.
In this episode, I talk about my 20 plus year journey to reaching this point, covering things like…
💫 How I initially got interested in studying piano at 5 years old
💫 How I started a successful music school in Miami (we just celebrated 10 years in business) and got featured on national television twice.
💫 My experience as an award-winning concert pianist in the U.S., Bolivia, Cuba, and Spain.
💫 How I founded a Top 15 music business program at the University of North Texas to equip young musicians with the key music business and entrepreneurship skills to support 21st-century artistic careers.
💫 How I discovered and nurtured my entrepreneurial instincts
💫 How we kept our music studio going during the pandemic and what our business looks
And so much more!
What I want you to know as you listen to this episode is that my life as a pianist, entrepreneur and music educator has always brought new opportunities to grow.
Maybe you’re experiencing burnout right now. Or perhaps you feel that in order to raise your rates, you’ll need to work many more hours each week.
I hope this interview helps you to start making the mindset shift around opening yourself up to the new possibility that you can create another revenue stream in your music business, all while embracing your multi-faceted personality and keeping the creative flame alive.
