Invitation to join me as I present virtual lecture-recital "Women as Musician-Entrepreneurs"
by Fabiana Claure on November 2nd, 2020

After over a year in the making, I'm so excited to invite you to join me as I present my multimedia lecture-recital entitled: "Women as Musician-Entrepreneurs: An Exploration of Fanny Mendelssohn, Clara Schumann, and Teresa Carreño's Works and Career Ventures."

This project was created thanks to a UNT fellowship I received in the fall of 2019. I was able to take a semester off from teaching and administration to immerse myself in my research to create this program. I had the wonderful opportunity to collaborate with the award-winning documentary film-maker, Tania Khalaf in creating a series of short films to go along with the piano performances and spoken remarks.

The program was selected to be presented at the College Music Society's National Conference in Louisville, KY last fall. I traveled with my then 5-month old son to present a portion of the program and had some wonderful responses from the attendees.

The program was originally set to be presented live in the Denton/Dallas area in March 2020. Once the pandemic hit, the program had to be postponed. Here is a video where I shared more insights into what to expect during the in-person version of the program.

Since I couldn't present the program in person this year, I decided to jump on the online wagon and present an adapted version of my program to be presented virtually worldwide. This online version of the program does not include the films (due to copyright issues) but instead, it includes a multimedia adaptation of the films as well as piano performances and spoken remarks.I'm also excited to be able to connect with all of you after the performance via a virtual reception. Throughout the program, you'll be able to share your comments and post questions in the chatbox feature.

After the recital is over, we'll meet in a special virtual room where I'll be able to answer your questions live. We'll be able to include up the first 20 people with audio and video in the virtual reception room and the rest can join via the chatbox feature.

It will be a wonderful event and I'm so looking forward to sharing with you what I discovered while researching the lives and works of these three amazing women.

You may purchase your tickets by clicking here.
Looking forward to connecting with all of you on Nov. 15th!
